Description of Projects
Architecture
- Registered in PA & NJ (Licensed since 1985)
- Former member of the American Institute of Architects, U.S. Green Building Council and a founder of the Lehigh Valley Green Builders Forum.
- Residential: New construction and renovation, experience in all phases.
- Design of several hundred residential projects in nine states to $3 million.
- Special emphasis on energy efficient construction. Projects featured in several different national magazines and numerous regional publications. Several awards.
- Multi‐Family: Several projects from 2 to 200 units, including warehouse and loft conversions.
Commercial
- Experience in all phases for over 100 retail stores ‐ new construction and restaurants, banks, four fitness clubs, bed and breakfast, crematorium, three wellness centers, auto repair facilities, dental offices, two gentleman’s clubs, etc.
Religious
- Design of several churches, including new construction, renovation, expansion and master planning. Design of two Hindu temples.
Industrial
- Design of a manufacturing facility for the blind, meat packing facilities, and several warehouses.
Government
- Part of a design team for a medium security prison and a county administration facility, new construction and renovations to fire company / EMS buildings, security enhancements to several schools
- Non-profit – Design of four environmental centers, renovations to a three-story thrift store.
Construction
- Extensive experience in design-build – new construction and renovation
- General contractor on five residential renovations / additions
- Instructor for construction training workshops
- Skills include: material take-off, cost analysis, site layout, demolition, concrete, masonry, framing, roofing, insulation, electrics, plumbing, finishes, trim, painting, grading and landscaping.
Energy
- Co-director of a non-profit energy education and research group Project co-director of two Dept. of Energy award winning projects in GA, AL, MS, SC, TN and LA.
- Design of approximately fifty passive and active solar earth-sheltered and significantly energy efficient residences and public buildings, including experimental energy demonstration houses “Future I” for GA Power Co. and “Sunrise” for Mobil Oil Co., “Southface” an urban energy resource center, Lehigh Gap Nature Center end the Earth Ship at Silver Lake Nature Center.
- Consultant / Instructor / Lecturer on energy efficient design and construction, including interviews with local newspapers radio and TV.
- Technical director for GA weatherization training program.
- Directed installation of five active solar water heating systems on municipal buildings.
Real Estate
- Real estate associate, currently inactive. (formerly licensed in PA and GA) Extensive land planning and subdivision experience.
- Extensive interaction with local zoning and planning boards.
- Extensive interaction with local realtors on many diverse projects.
- Numerous real estate and finance seminars and conferences.
Historic Preservation / Restoration
- Board member – Plumstead Historical Society
- Member – Heritage Conservancy – Historical Architectural Review Board
- Coordinated efforts of neighborhood residents with Atlanta zoning officials to establish the city’s first Historic/Cultural district and helped write the guidelines.
- Design a low-income, passive solar residences for the Cabbagetown H/C district
- Design and construction documents for renovation of several National Register or candidates for National Register buildings
- Respectful renovations / additions to dozens of farm houses and barns..
